What is a Facilitator?
A facilitator is a person who helps a “group” of people identify their:
- What (Objective)
- When
- How
- Who (will be involved)
A skilled facilitator helps a groups achieve its goal, without taking a particular
position in the discussion process.
However, objective questioning is sometimes used to maintain momentum and assist
in achieving a consensus of opinion so the group has a strong foundation to take
action, going forward.
What is the difference between Facilitation and a Coaching?
Facilitation is very similar to coaching except a Facilitator only works with groups,
in order to help the group identify a goal and develop a strategic action plan, whereas
a coaching works with groups and individuals on a “one-to-one” basis.
